ATTENTION DITCH SHAREHOLDERS
Please keep trash, yard debris, tree trimmings, bicycles, tricycles, kiddie pools, well pressure tanks as well as any other items that do not belong in the ditch out of it. These items cause the ditch to slow and to backup causing the potential for flooding and other problems. The ditch recently had to be shut down so that items could be removed from the ditch that was causing the ditch to back up and flood areas. (5/2/24)

Dear Shareholders,
Every year the Verde Ditch Commissioners face the same problem when there is an emergency on the ditch. Access. The Verde Ditch Commissioners are Court appointed agents acting on behalf of an Arizona Superior Court Judge. We and all property owners along the ditch or properties that provide access to the ditch are governed by Court ordered “Rules and Regulations” dated August 9, 1989. In section 3 of the “Rules and Regulations” it clearly states that, “Constructing or installation of gates, buildings, posts, fences, cross-fences or any other obstruction along or over the ditch or in the area adjacent to the ditch which interferes with the flow of the Verde Ditch or the ability of the Verde Ditch Commissioners, agents or employees to move necessary equipment up and down the ditch and ditch banks is prohibited.”
Per the Court order, the Verde Ditch Commissioners will be undertaking the task of providing access to the ditch banks as described in the Court order. This project will be done in two phases. Phase one will start at the head of the ditch off Horseshoe Bend and will focus on the low bank. Phase two will start at the head of the ditch off Horseshoe Bend and will focus on the high bank. This notice pertains to all properties that border the Verde Ditch or provide access to the ditch.
The Verde Ditch Commissioners understand that this will be problematic for some properties; however, there have been several incidents where large equipment was needed to repair a leak, remove a clog, build up a compromised bank or other issues that an earthen ditch may have, and access was not available. If the ditch floods its banks, there is a possibility of property damage.
Please go to our website for a full copy of the “Rules and Regulations”.
On our website the phone numbers for each Commissioner are available if you wish to discuss this further.
On another note, please join our database if you haven’t already.
Sincerely,
Verde Ditch Commissioners
