5000 miner’s inches in a water right filed 03/20/1891, by John Davis, John Wood and James Brown at page 224 of Book 2, Mill sites and Water Rights. “About 100 yards north of Fort Verde Military Reservation and about 400 yards above the Gaddis land” with notice to extend the “Verde Irrigation Canal.”

Hayden Report (1940) calls Verde Ditch Company a corporation, with 10 shares of stock. However, in the 1979 statement of claim, Verde Ditch Company filed as an unincorporated ditch company. No records show up for Verde Ditch Company in the ACC online records.
Hancock, in his 1914 report, says the upper end of the canal was located and built by the Government for Indians and Wales Arnold in 1868. The lower end located and built by R.C. Campbell, John Davis, John Wood, Abe Kuntz, Jackson Thompson, in 1871.
